Classic Beef Stroganoff recipe


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin or sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the onion, mushrooms, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and beef broth until smooth. Add this mixture to the skillet with the vegetables. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for a few minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Add the beef back to the skillet and stir in the sour cream. Heat through, but do not boil.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles.
